Our kindergarten class set butterflies free today after watching their amazing lifecycle from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies!

Second grade students and staff enjoyed a beautiful day to explore nature at Maywoods Nature Reserve. RCHS GATE students under the instruction of Ms. Starla led games and tours including learning about animal habitats and camouflage, taking a hike, and searching for creatures in the creek. We had a great day and appreciate the hard work of everyone involved.

Students in Michelle Martin's Science class learned about the structures of the eye and whether or not they could truly see in complete darkness and why not. They made an edible eyeball as an activity. Thanks to Cali Pensol for the cool activity, and Joyce Lear for helping the kids make their eyeballs.

And they’re off! Our little jockeys had a blast racing in our very own Kindergarten Kentucky Derby today — full of big smiles, fast feet, and plenty of cheers from the crowd. Giddy up!

Kindergarten students had an exciting field trip to Maywoods Environmental and Educational Laboratory, exploring insects, catching creek wildlife, and playing 'Oh Deer' and predator-prey games! Huge thanks to the gifted and talented RCHS students who helped make the day unforgettable!

Second grade students and teachers enjoyed a trip to Richmond Recycling Center. They learned it’s better to recycle than to litter. Recycling aluminum cans can be fun and rewarding. When cardboard and plastic bottles are recycled, they are placed inside a compactor and made into bales. After touring the recycling center, our students spent the afternoon at Lake Reba Park enjoying the beautiful weather while playing on the playground.

So many smiles, surprises, and sweet memories!

Fifth grade began discussing our system of government. We did a quick little experiment on why one leg ( Articles of Confederation) were unstable, while our three branches are more stable and can hold under pressure!
🖤🐴❤️

Our Mustangs had an egg-stra fun time at today’s Easter Egg Hunt!
A huge THANK YOU to First Baptist Church Mt. Vernon for donating 9,000 eggs filled with candy, money, stickers, squishies, and toys — for providing bags to help our students collect all their treasures — and for helping hide every single egg around the playground!
We’re so thankful for your generosity and support. What a joyful day!
Another special thanks to Jennifer Kimsey for her generous egg donation to the hunt — we appreciate you!

🚀🐎🌟What an incredible day it was for our Littlest Mustangs to team up with our Biggest Rocket Leaders! Preschoolers had the most EPIC time with Miss Tammy Camel’s Early Lifespan Development students, uncovering the most exciting elements of Child Development! They engaged in activities designed to enhance social interactions, explored sensory and textile materials, participated in an adventurous scavenger hunt, and even planted their own seeds! We are immensely grateful for the opportunities provided today to our Youngest Future Rockets and wish to extend our appreciation to the Biggest Rocket Leaders! Go Rockets and Go Mustangs!🌟🐎🚀
